The time of day you plan to have meetings is very important because timing is everything. There is usually a lot to do and not enough time in the day!

Particularly on a weekday. At times, it may seem as though we only sit down at our desks and the day is virtually done. This is especially true if your day is jam-packed with meetings. Your meetings on your calendar should be productive if you want your workday to be as productive as possible!

As discussed in our previous blog, what time should you schedule meetings? Are Evenings effective?

15% believe that meetings should be held in the evenings

Are Evenings really effective to hold meetings?

Our research indicates that evening meeting is the least preferred time to carry out meetings, for good reason. In an end-of-day meeting, it’s common for attendees to feel anxious and watch the clock tick until it’s time for them to call it a day and log off. Steer clear of this time slot unless it’s the only time available or something is urgent.

Benefits of Evenings Meetings

But what are the benefits of holding a meeting in the Evenings?

  • Meeting clients in a different Time-Zone

Most likely or not, you will face eventually a client who is somewhere else in the world and their morning time is your evening. This can be seen as a flaw however this enables professionals to speak to more clients, globally and helps with business growth and a variety of different clients from more than one location.

  • Useful for quick meetings

Your clients may want to speak at the end of the day, possibly due to being unavailable for the rest of the day, which makes this the best time for a quick call to discuss. This allows professionals to keep their customer engagement for the best time for their clients.

Set-backs of Evenings Meetings

Evenings meetings might have their perks but it’s not for everyone, here’s why:

  • People are tired at the end of the day

Despite completing the workload for the day, it’s more likely that both you and your attendee will be pretty low energy to engage with the meeting, affecting the overall outcome of the meeting

  • Invades you and your client’s time

Time is very valuable and speaking to clients after hours is not a great look, this is why is best to avoid arranging and planning meetings at this time as clients may feel annoyed and dissatisfied to go to a meeting when they may be having dinner with their family or friends.

In reality, there is no perfect timing when you schedule meetings, it all depends on how critical and important the meeting is. The most important should be reserved for later in the day, preferably afternoons while easier meetings should be done earlier on to get off your desk. Booking into too early or too late is not favourable for anyone so desirable times consist of late mornings and afternoons.
